About Sheila

Sheila studied Graphic Design at university then worked with teachers and pupils on design, logistics and production of learning materials. She did some illustration work and enjoyed art and design. All of her career has been spent supporting education, then delivering training courses, team building and so on.

Since retiring, she returned to art and developed her skills and enthusiasm for a variety of subjects, media and techniques. She has never wished to make art a “commercial production line” but a way of challenging herself with improving her skills to tackle the projects that engage her.

The Cinema Project with CREW Arts came at a good time. Being in a group with other creatives, delivering some workshops, and having opportunities to exhibit her work has meant a lot.

After attending two workshops on pastels, she embraced this medium — as you will see from many of her new works.

Sheila has also spread her wings into writing. Over the last couple of years she has written and illustrated a children’s book, Gossamer the Goose Who Was Afraid to Fly. Based at Gleneagles golf course, it’s about a goose abandoned by her family, based on a true scenario — a story revealing Gossamer’s loneliness and her wish to be her true goosey self and fly for the first time. The book is available on Amazon.

Another book (for adults) about climbing all the Munros, and her experiences and adventures in doing so, is currently in production.
