Stanzalone Open Mic at the Auchterarder Picturehouse is a welcoming evening for seasoned writers and performers, creative beginners, and listeners who simply come to enjoy the exceptional quality and variety. Performers usually share at least five minutes each, supported by an appreciative and engaged audience. The two-hour event includes a 15-minute interval, with guests able to relax and socialise at our alcohol-free bar. Expect warmth, creativity, laughter, reflection, community, courage and discovery. This event is free to attend.

Join us at Auchterarder Picturehouse on Sunday 1st November for our fourth annual Auchterarder Book Festival – a celebration of books, creativity and local literary talent. From 11am, enjoy ticketed creative writing, illustration and poetry workshops, followed by our free Book Fair from 12–4pm, bringing together authors and book lovers of all ages. There’ll also be a kids’ craft table and café, making it a relaxed afternoon for the whole family. The festival concludes with Mark Bridgeman’s Trial by Jury, an entertaining ticketed event from 4–5.30pm. Come along, browse, discover and be inspired!.
Creative Writing Workshop 11AM- 1PM – Plotting for Film and Novel, Tutor – Gail McPartland
Your plot has started well and the ending is planned, but how do you stop your story from sagging in the middle? Gail will show how to keep the plot moving along using techniques such as a three-act structure, plot points and character arc. The workshop will also explore the use of symbolism to lead the unconscious mind as the plot unfolds. The workshop will include practical exercises to try out these techniques.
Etching into Photographs 11AM-1PM – Illustrated Initials, Tutor – Jenni Gudgeon
We are delighted to welcome back Jenni with her popular photo-etching workshop. Using this easy technique, you can design and etch your own illustrated initials into a photograph. No ink or paint is used, as the process reveals colours which lie hidden under the surface of every photo. All photographs and equipment supplied.
Poetry Workshop 1.30-3.30PM – Maps, Myths and Memory: Writing about Place, Tutor – Jennie Turnbull, Innerpeffray poet-in-residence
A variety of written and visual prompts will be used in this workshop to explore both interior and exterior landscapes. What draws us to a place? What makes it home, or leaves us out in the cold? How might we create utopia – or dystopia? There will be an opportunity, though no obligation, to share what you have written during the workshop.
Afternoon Book Fair, Kids Craft Table and Storytelling sessions 12-4PM
Don’t miss our fabulous book fair, with books to satisfy every taste – fiction, non-fiction and children’s. Our kid’s craft table runs throughout the afternoon with activities to suit all ages, there will be storytelling sessions for younger children, and a café area serving light refreshments.
Trial by Jury with Mark Bridgeman – Will you send a man to the gallows? 4-5.30pm
Best-selling author Mark Bridgeman brings his acclaimed event to Auchterarder for one night only. He will present a real-life historic murder trial from one of his books, taking on the role of judge and barristers for the defence and prosecution. As the audience, you become the jury! You will listen to the case and vote on the verdict. Guilty or not guilty – you decide. Mark will then reveal the actual verdict and tell you what really happened. This promises to be an event to remember.
Panto Panic! | CREW Drama

It’s Panto Panic!
Get ready for CREW Drama’s brand-new original family pantomime, Panto Panic! Over 70 local people have come together to create this unique production – a fantastic celebration of community spirit, creativity and local talent. The pantomime world has fallen into chaos! Wicked Queen Bootella’s mischievous magic has mixed up all your favourite panto stories, and it’s up to our brave heroes to put things right before the curtain falls for good. Expect laughs, magic, music and plenty of audience participation. Warm up your boos, practise your cheers and join the adventure!

Step into the magic of Christmas at Auchterarder Picturehouse for a very special afternoon with The Snowman and Stirling Orchestra.
From 1pm, meet The Snowman, take on The Snowman’s Christmas Passport, enjoy festive activities and treats, and discover the wonderful world of live music. At 2pm, join our ticketed open rehearsal, go behind the scenes with Stirling Orchestra, then meet some of the musicians and discover their instruments. Children attend FREE with an accompanying adult. At 4pm, our main ticketed performance brings the timeless magic of The Snowman to the big screen, accompanied live by Stirling Orchestra – a magical Christmas experience for all the family.
