CREW Words grew from a vibrant community of passionate writers and performers who first connected through the Adult Education creative writing class. Led by Lesley Buchan Donald and Tom Langlands, the group quickly found its rhythm and collective voice, forming a supportive space for anyone drawn to the power of words – written, spoken, or performed.

One of CREW Words’ proudest achievements is the creation of Stanzalone, a much-loved monthly Open Mic night that now attracts performers and listeners from far beyond Auchterarder. These evenings are wonderfully eclectic, showcasing everything from poetry and flash fiction to original songs, dialogue sketches, and comical observational stories. Stanzalone has become a treasured creative outlet where seasoned performers and first-timers alike can share their work in a warm and encouraging environment.

The founding members also recently celebrated the publication of their first poetry collection, Whisky and Chocolate, featuring 52 original pieces. This milestone reflects the group’s dedication to nurturing creative expression and supporting local talent.

CREW Words is committed to building on the success of Stanzalone and expanding the opportunities it offers. With growing audiences and an ever-evolving community of storytellers, the group continues to champion creativity, confidence, and the joy of sharing words aloud.
